Our Trip To France

Last term Class 5 went to Frevent in France to visit our penpals at their school. We got on the coach at 5.30.a.m. It was very early but some of us had been awake since 2 they were so excited.

The coach left on time and our long journey began

We travelled for approximately half an hour to the Tunnel and went through loads of entry gates. After what seemed a long time we got on to the shuttle for the 30 minute journey to France.

We arrived at the school at 7.30 (8.30 French time.) It is called Ecole St. Exupery and when we arrived we all walked into a long room where our penpals greeted us with a welcoming song in English. Then we all went to our penpals and lots of them gave us presents. We got into groups and had a tour of the school and played new games.

We had lunch then afterwards we got back on our bus and went to Azincourt, our penpals came on another coach. We all looked round a museum.

Soon it was time to go. We hugged our penpals a lot of them cried and one called Sandy was flooded with tears.

On the way back we were delayed because the French were trying out a new scanner on their

coach but soon enough they finished and then we went home.

It was a long day but we enjoyed it.

Groups for the under 5s!

Baby Group meets on Thursday afternoons from 1:30 until 3pm. There is sensory play and baby massage. Pregnant mums are also welcome to pop in for tea and a chat.

One is Fun is for children who are too big for the baby group but are not yet ready for the Toddler groups. They meet every Monday afternoon from 1:30 until 3pm.

Two’s Too is the next step up and is a smaller group that meets on Friday mornings from 9 until 11am.

Parents & Toddlers  is the bigger group that meets every Wednesday morning from 9 until 11am. There is always messy play, cutting and sticking. The Health Visitor holds a surgery on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.

All these groups run in Term Time only in The Family Centre at Hythe Community School in Cinque Ports Avenue and are hosted by Shirley Macfarlane, the Family Support Worker.

In all three toddler groups reading and singing with the children is actively encouraged.

We also appreciate that for the baby and age defined groups, parents have older children as well.

They are welcome within these groups as long as parents respect the smaller children’s space.
