At Saltwood School we enjoy being a part of the community of Saltwood. Two of our year 6 pupils laid a wreath during the Remembrance service on Saltwood Green in November and our year 5 pupils spent a very enjoyable afternoon just beforeChristmas singing carols at Balgowan.
A highlight of the Spring term is our annual Chess tournament. This is organised by two valuable members of our community: Mr Charles Coe and Rev Peter Henwood. Their enthusiasm and gentle guidance has resulted in this becoming an ever more popular competition – so much so that we now have to run the tournament over two lunchtimes to accommodate all the matches.
Our Wildlife Garden, which we told you about last year, is going to be planted up in a few weeks time under the guidance of a keen local gardener.
We are all currently excitedly awaiting the start of our new build project. It is due to commence on March 8th and will provide us with a new computer suite to accommodate 33 computers and a new library. It will really enhance the learning experiences for the children following the introduction of Interactive Whiteboards in every classroom just over a year ago.
